Our chapter is named in honor of Cordelia “Cora” Thomas Pasley Steen,
the first female pioneer in Edmond.
Cordelia arrived at Mile Marker 103, Indian Territory, on November 1887,
almost 18 months before the famous Land Run of April 22, 1889,
which formally established the town of Edmond.
Our chapter is proud to be named for a woman whose brave, strong,
and determined spirit made an indelible mark on Edmond’s history,
and who exemplified the same ideals we embrace as
Daughters of the American Revolution.
Even though she was not a DAR member,
we found a proven Patriot of the American Revolution
in Cordelia’s family tree.
